Patient Testimonials

I have seen Dr. Zhou for epidural shots over a period of a few years. I had seen 2 other pain specialist prior to seeing Dr. Zhou without any pain relief. I would fly across country to see Dr. Zhou for treatment. He has always been a patient and caring Dr. for me, always explaining my treatment. I have never had any rude treatment by any of his staff.

Dr Zhou was not my regular pain doc but that is who I was seen or should I say attacked by yesterday at my regular monthly apt. I was never even told that my Dr is no longer there until the very end of my apt! So I had been fairly new to this office for my pain management & I was very happy with the Dr. I had been seeing since Jan Now all of a sudden I am greeted my Dr. Zhou which need a prescription himself I assure you. Also please note on this particular visit I had to bring my 1 year old grand baby & it just happened to be her 1st Birthday & for some reason she became unwell & had vomited all over herself so this is just going to add to the whole situation regarding Dr Zhou . At first I thought he was a doctor filling in for my regular pain doc that I see on a monthly basis but then it turned into what seemed to be a NEW patient apt which I began feeling VERY confused at this point ( again all while holding my So Dr Zhou says I do not feel comfortable writing your prescriptions & So I am going to give you one refill but that I will need to find a new doctor & so I was confused, upset & curious as to why he was doing this & WHERE IS MY REGULAR PRESCRIBING DR?? Who is this Dr. dropping another Doctor's patient?!?!? So I guess asking questions is NOT allowed. He began yelling at me with my grand baby sitting on my lap covered in vomit. He flung the door open & ordered me to leave & he was calling the police because I was being violent. I was literally about to pass out!!! I asked him why he was doing this he replied ( yelling) I don't trust you & I don't care! & he is basing this all on a computer screen of my history of meds but not once about my illness for which I was prescribed meds for!!! I have NEVER in my life been treated or talked to by any healthcare professional & for him to have no regard that he is telling at me & causing me to become so upset I could not breathe all while trying really hard to be calm for my grand baby!!! So he bullied me into shutting my mouth just to be able to get a 30 day RX & I had to remind him that this is why It appears I am Doc shopping because 3 pain docs ( including him) In less than a year have quit & left me no choice but to re establish with another/different pain specialist. How is this my fault & why do I get the label because doctors are just leaving their patients in a very bad way. I feel first thing upon him entering the exam room would be to make me aware that my regular pain doc is no longer there & He would be taking on his patients but I wasn't informed of anything accept what a druggie Iam . Also I have been with my PCP since 2002 so I do not doctor shop all my docs require a referral by my Primary but lets focus on a prescription from 2015 for muscle relaxers ?? This Doc has no business treating patients with chronic pain illness's . He has zero compassion nor does he even care about your illness etc. But to yell & threaten to call the police & tell me I am being violent while I have my 1 yr old grand daughter who was not feeling very well herself.. He simply did not care & he also had no problem telling me so!!!! So I was not allowed to speak or defend myself.. I was mistreated, bullied & threatened all the while thinking what am I going to do now because there is just no way I am willing to accept the label & stigma that goes with having to rely on pain medication to help give me " very lil" quality of life! He refused to discuss my illness which is the reason I am under the care of different specialists but only ONE of each! I did NOT break my contract so until I do what gives him the right to dismiss me? All he did was help by adding yet another notch on my doctor shopping list WOW!!!! & again yelling & threatening me causing me to get very worked up & upset all while trying to hold back to avoid my grand baby getting upset & prevent her from vomiting again. How does anyone feel good about treating someone who is very chronically ill that way. All I have to say at this point is He is the one that needs QUIT & LEAVE the practice!!!

I had been a patient of Dr Zhou and Dr Waricha for about 9 years before I moved back to NJ to care for my very sick mother and I have to say this - everyone at this practice is extremely compassionate, kind and always willing to listen and treat you with the medications and procedures you need depending on your medical records and history. I received better medical care at this practice than at ANY practice in NJ so far. They have always gone above and beyond for me and took my multiple chronic illnesses and injuries very seriously. Doctor zhou helped me live a normal functional life and I'm forever grateful for the medical care I received from him. Looking at some of Dr Zhou's very negative reviews and comments I will say this... with all pain management doctors and all doctors really there is a patient/doctor trust relationship which is extremly important. In pain management in general If you don't pass your urine screens each time to show you're taking your medications as prescribed, pill counts and drug monitoring database or if the doctor doesn't feel comfortable treating you for whatever reasons it's his right to turn you away and decline to treat you or discharge you from the practice - It certainly doesn't make him a bad doctor. Doctor Zhou is highly educated and trained in his field and I plan to visit this clinic in the future when we relocate.

I have been in pain management for 5 years. I've just moved here from Alabama. I have all medical records and documentation from neurologist, pain doctor, oncologist. I have all tested and documentation. They did not take any of my records, telling me to take them in the room with me. The doctor did not review my records until I was in the exam room. I paid 350 dollars cash as I have no insurance. After a few questions he had me remove my socks and shoes and stuck me with a needle on my foot then said " you do not have peripheral neuropathy" I informed him I had a nerve conduction study and an emg performed, that I had the test results and a diagnosis from my neurologist with me, he said let me see. After looking at my paperwork he admitted I had neuropathy, but said it's not causing my pain. The degeneration shown on my MRI, he said 42 was too young for it to be causing me pain. Fibromyalgia was not helped by narcotics. It does for me. I am a responsible working adult on a low dose of pain medication who needs the medication to have a fairly decent life. He dismissed my problems before looking at my documentation, then said even though you have these problems you shouldn't be in pain. He did not prescribe me any narcotics and treated me rudely. He did not review my medical records and made his decision based on what reasoning I can't fathom. There is a reason he has a 2.9 rating, hopefully this review will bring it lower.
