Patient Testimonials

I never saw or heard from the doctor. It even sure there was one there. I was seen twice by the worst nurse Practitioner I've ever met in my 57 yrs in this planet. Her judgemental attitude towards me was very off putting. This person continues lyrics tried to sell me on surgery which is; as I had told her over n over, not an option for me at this time. And then after telling me in the most entitled and condescending way possible they were not going to prescribe any opioid and that there's nothing they will do for me I walked out. The judgmental attitude is my reason why I left. Beware if you need help this place is not the place to go. If ya want your insurance to get billed for redundant BS then sure this is yer place. I highly recommend you find another place for pain management.

Where to begin this nightmare. My last 2 visits ended in tears because I have never been more frustrated and more upset at the lack of empathy and compassion from a healthcare provider in my life. I have had severe debilitating back pain for 5 months. It has clearly interfered with all daily activities and work. I was first prescribed a steroid pack and lyrica (a nerve pain pill) when these didn't work I called the office sobbing in pain. I was told there was absolutely nothing they could do until I came in for a follow up- which the earliest appointment was a month away. In order to do ANYTHING to help control the pain while I waited 30 days I took large amounts of OTC pain med (Tylenol, Advil, aleve etc) it was my only option. When I had my follow up I was honest and told them how much OTC pain meds I was taking, hoping to convey exactly how much pain I was in because I was repeatedly getting the feeling they did not believe me. Amy gave me a stern lecture about it and when I asked what was I supposed to do, that's when she said "you should have called" WHICH I DID. But as I tried to tell her that, she cut me off and did not allow me to speak. It took over a month to get my MRI results. Which were available in 6 days through my portal. At my next visit, in severe pain, Amy scolded me and told me to "sit up straight" twice when I could barely manage the pain from sitting and that was the only way it felt semi ok. Who says that to someone in severe pain? She then took me off the pain reliever that was helping- due to high blood pressure- spoiler alert, my blood pressure was high because of extreme pain for 5 months and also anger and frustration dealing with their office (it was normal and documented at my annual visit with my PCP a week prior to this and I have an at-home cuff to monitor), so she put me on a different pain reliever. The new one gave me extreme headaches and when I consulted with a second opinion they were shocked I was placed on the new medication because it had even HIGHER amounts of cardiac side effects than the first medication. In your appointment there is no room or safe space for you to communicate your questions or concerns. If you have a differing opinion or challenging questions you are met with a higher-than-thou attitude and it becomes incredibly awkward. As soon as I mentioned I was getting a second opinion and would do some research, the vibe changed real real fast. Do yourself a favor and seek care elsewhere.

I started seeing Amy Maass to manage my pain care, she had prescribed me Belbuca without telling me about the warning for tooth decay. I had a med check and was going to be bringing the medication with me to be disposed of. I have several health issues and cannot drive. I forgot to bring the medication and was told if I do not get it there in the next 2 hours (when they close) that my account would be permanently flagged, I would not ever get opioids or controlled substances again, and if it wasn't there by Thursday, they would file a police report. My extreme frustration was met with anger from Dr. Maass when I stated "I don't understand how doctors have all this wiggle room, but patients who have documented health conditions that even cause memory problems, aren't given the same understanding" she yelled "don't you group me in with those doctors when I've been trying to help you!" Not realizing she is just another one of those legal drug dealers that wanted to push opioids that I quit taking because of the side effects. She is another reason patients are slowed down from receiving proper health care.

Every one has their own story as to what brings you looking for a place to go when you are suffering with chronic pain. First and foremost, you are exhausted emotionally and physically from the pain. Secondly, you're probably just exhausted from not being believed your pain is that real it has depleted who you once were and you just want a little bit of "normalcy" to feel anything but just pain your in day to day. I have been through all the ups and downs from before Dr Sohn started the clinic through the growing pains as Wisconsin Spine and Pain started up. I know everyone will have different experiences but I can only elude to mine. I have never felt like I have been treated like I didn't matter or at the same time like I was lumped together in a pool of "just another chronic pain patient looking for medication".. I have seen many doctors with all I have been through and Dr Sohn is one of the kindest at the same time most attentive of them all. Remember you go into a dr visit listing your symptoms but also listening to what the physician has too say in options too help. Dr Sohn has done that vehemently! But, I continue to be more and more blessed that I get too see and be a patient of Amy Maass his PA who has continuously listened too me and help suggest procedures to help calm down my pain and symptoms! She has been an emotional boost in listening and believing me and more so believing in me to help continue to help myself stay the best course I can to living as full of life that my body allows. And her demeanor and positivity only bolsters my mental health all the more as well. I am honest with them and they are honest with me and it creates a wonderful relationship between any Dr. and patient. The whole staff in Appleton has been kind and considerate. There is a branch in Green Bay but since the one has opened in Appleton I prefer to stay closer to home. Yes, it has been a long road to find a the drs I could trust and believe are truly there to really help me and put me and my health first and foremost- again with kindness and compassion from all the staff.
