Patient Testimonials

If I could give this team a million stars. I started going there as a wheelchair bound 4th grader who doctor's refused to treat my chronic leg pain any further. Dr Goldstein and his team changed my life. As a 4th grader, Goldstein took on the challenge of implanting a pain pump. After several years of constantly tweaking and trying new meds, Goldstein was able to get me to no longer be wheelchair bound. That was 2004. I still drive from northern Virginia to Charlottesville (1.5 hours each way) every 3-4 weeks to have my pump refilled. Going to the clinic is "home away from home" for me. They have always been up for new ideas, innovative, and ALWAYS listened and took into consideration my wants.

They refused to deal with my pain because Virginia law enforcement won't let them! I'm gonna deal with it myself! Bhavana Yalamuru totally lied when she put the information into my medical records! The nurse even acknowledged that she was shielding what she injected into me after I objected to my treatment. UVA refuses to talk to me!

The staff at the front desk are lovely! I saw Ann Murray who was very empathetic and caring. I have nothing negative to say about the staff, but I'm very disappointed regarding the practice's knowledge with pregnancy. This is my second pregnancy. I have an autoimmune issue, cause unknown, that causes me to have very severe, 6 week long, continuous headaches during pregnancy and post partum. I have a midwife, so she's unable to prescribe anything for me. I was sent to high risk OB and my case was above and beyond what OB could handle. I went to pain management thinking that being specialists in pain management they would know how to treat me. They did not at all. I now have to go back to the high risk OB who said he couldn't help me to see if he will approve a medication being recommended by my midwife. If he does, they will prescribe it. If he doesn't, I'm back on the wheel of seeing specialist after specialist and being denied care due to being pregnant. I have been to 2 EDs, a prompt care, seen ENT, neurology, 2 primary care offices, pain management, internal medicine, high risk OB, a naturopathic doctor, a chiropractor, and I cannot get help. It's very disappointing that people who specialize in pain management have no knowledge on how to manage pain in pregnant people. There's a reason why the US has the highest mother mortality rate of any developed country. You are all but denied medical care if you're pregnant in this country, and this office was no different.

one star because initial consultation seemed reasonable. Procedure recommended and understood I had to drive myself. No sedating drugs to be used. Not needed. MD, DO, and med student heard the conversation. Procedure scheduled. Get "nurse" call who asked about driver. I said MD and I discussed it and worked out. Arrive for procedure. RN checking me in gruff, forceful, asked about driver-me and MD said OK, accused me twice of lying about that. MD did note it in record. Then MD told me the conversation never happened because he failed to record it. And somehow this was my fault. Then accused me of lying about how my prior pain management physician handled the same procedure. I drove myself to and from. Then MD insulted my profession, me professionally, and my employer. I am a highly educated and trained medical profession who does not care for humans. In a 2-3 min time period I was accused of lying by 2 people 5 times and had my career insulted. My 0-10 anger meter was at a 15 and they did not see the half of it. I made sure all the other patients in the area knew I was being accused of lying to cover the ineptitude of a MD not creating and accurate and thorough record of a consultation. I learned better than than and live the ethics I committed to when I chose my profession. Everything gets recorded even it it records something than could cause me some challenge. Never has though because I recorded the discussion and ensured on an agreed understanding. Used 8 hours of leave, 8 hours of my time, waited 4 months to have the visit and then the procedure (not done), 100 miles of wear and tear on my vehicle, and half a tank of gas. Find a real medical practice with real, ethical physicians. It is like finding a unicorn, but the ones that do not take insurance (yes I will be paying out of pocket) have unicorn status.
