The ER is unclean. I was there last night and all you can smell is urine in the waiting area. Not to mention GABRIEL, the security guard, needs some serious training on how to act professionally at his job. I had to ask him (me the general public, not his supervisor) to please stop singing and do his job quicker, as my partner was experinecing a medical emergency and we didn't have time to stand there listening to his concert in the middle of the ER. The security seemingly has no training when it comes to treating those experiencing medical emergencies (hence being in the ER) with a shred of empathy, his behavior was completely inappropriate for a hospital setting. I also watched Gabriel not check others the way he thoroughly made me empty my pockets, take my jacket off (even though there's a metal detector lol), and tried to "hold" my $300 winter jacket. He profiled me but let plenty others just stroll through the metal detector no problem, no harassment about removing their coats or anything. His supervisor came over and told me I could hold on to my jacket, it was definitely giving the impression that the original security guard (GABRIEL) needed a new winter jacket with how he was acting. Pathetic. Maybe pay your workers more so they can afford their own belongings and don't try to steal from people already experiencing enough going on. This is a pathetic excuse of a hospital. It makes me embarrassed to even be a UVM alum. DO BETTER!!! You owe it to your community.

PLEASE READ! I am disappointed and disgusted with UVM. I used to think very highly of this hospital up until recent events. My dad has been admitted to ICU following a heart attack, CHF and renal failure. We all know we cope in our own ways. So while my dad was having emergency dialysis in ICU my family and I were sitting in the ICU waiting room reminiscing and laughing. Well a man from across the room spoke up rudely and told us that there were other people there trying to cope, my brother then responded that this is how we cope and this man called my brother an asshole. The man then proceeded to call security on US! We got removed from the ICU waiting room not one day but two days in a row because of this man. We were removed from the floor that our very sick father was on because this family couldn't handle that we were laughing instead of crying. The staff then came to talk to us when we were removed the second day and gave us vouchers for parking and ONE gas card for 30 dollars. Are you serious? UVM you need to do better. You will be hearing from us again about this issue we will not shut up about this just because of a voucher and a gas card. The other family got no disciplinary actions against them mind you. We felt we couldn't even walk to the ICU because we'd get reported by this family which we voiced to the staff and they basically said they don't care. It's at the point of harassment which is completely unacceptable. How dare you UVM.

The doctors at ER last night and people with them were outstanding. Heck I would be treated there for everything if it didnt cost so much. I sing Zeppelin at Xmas party for free etc. Totally won me over. Best ER service in history.

Poor customer relations, the MD 0n called basically was straight forward non compassionate and told us don't come back to the ER unless you have a fever or severe threat to life. I was bleeding heavily soaked the bed in blood we showed him the picture of the bed the MD on called said yes that is not considered an emergency handle it at home unless you are extremely sick. He said that's the way things work here in Vermont. Very, very disappointing that a Doctor is there for the a pay check and not for the patient and no compassion very very cold hearted.
