“Over the past decade, I have been managing a herniated disc in my neck following a car rear-end collision. To alleviate pain, I have received periodic injections. I was referred to Tricity Pain Management in New Braunfels. After in initial appointment, I was scheduled for an injection. Several days prior to my appointment, I received a call from the Procedure Scheduling Specialist informing me that my insurance claim was pending, which is routine. I was pleased to reschedule. However, I was subsequently notified that the office had failed to provide a copy of my MRI, which was required to support the procedure requested by my insurance from the provider. Consequently, I had to send a copy of my MRI results myself directly to the Procedure Scheduling Specialist. Despite this, I was still asked additional questions about my care that I could not answer as a non-provider. Consequently, I had to wait for a response from the clinical staff. I had left multiple phone messages and texts to their new texting system, but I did not receive a response until I visited the office in person. The Procedure Scheduling Specialist informed me that she had sent an email, but it remained unanswered. Two weeks later, the nurse called me and stated that I would require physical therapy and that she would place a request to my provider to request the referral. I am even willing to pick up a letter from the office and request my own physical therapy referral from my PCP but I must have a letter stating why I am requesting it from a professional provider. However, it has now been another two weeks, and I have still not received any care. I also had to request pain medication until I could resolve my care treatment. This situation is deeply concerning, as this is not my first negative experience with the staff of Dr. Chapman. My initial encounter occurred when I scheduled an injection. I had previously communicated with the individual over the phone that Dr. Chapman had indicated that I did not necessitate another injection at that time. However, she persisted in scheduling me according to his orders. Consequently, I took a full day off from work and arrived at my injection appointment to only be informed by Dr. Chapman himself that he was perplexed by my scheduling. I explained that I had provided the necessary information to the individual on the phone, but they insisted that I be scheduled by his orders. I extend my understanding to this office, as I do not believe it is Dr. Chapman himself who is responsible for this oversight. Rather, I believe it is his staff's duty to ensure that all pertinent documentation is sent. I sincerely hope that this office will implement improved communication protocols within its operations in the near future.”
