The Pain Treatment Center of Greater Washington, Justin Wasserman, M.D.

The Pain Treatment Center of Greater Washington specializes in the treatment of intractable chronic pain as well as opioid addiction. I manage the most complex cases of fibromyalgia, low back pain/"failed back syndrome", CRPS, pelvic pain, vulvodynia, interstitial cystitis, migraines and other types of severe headaches. I am an internationally known expert in medication management of the most complex chronic pain cases. Most of my patients have failed treatments from multiple other pain doctors. In fact, my largest referral sources are other pain management doctors who send their most difficult patients to me. I also am an expert in managing the depression, anxiety, and insomnia which commonly occur in patients with severe chronic pain.

Patient Testimonials

If you feel that your doctor is not listening to you about your pain and you are frustrated that no one seems to care -- this is the place for you. I've never had a doctor listen to my issues like Dr. Wasserman. During your appointment you have his full attention and he makes sure to ask about everything, even things that you did not think could be related to your problem, and is therefore able to make linkages and diagnoses that other doctors miss. I had severe pain in my hips and back that my GP could not fix (and did not seem particularly interested in fixing because he did not seem to think it was real). After seeing Dr. Wasserman for four months, the pain is gone most days. I have lived with the pain for years and did not know it could feel this good. I also like that Dr. Wasserman always endeavors to find the least amount of medication that will give me a good result, the most efficient treatment with the least number of side effects. I would definitely recommend this practice to anyone in pain that doesn't know where to turn.

I have suffered with Migraines for over 50 years, gradually transitioning from Occasional, to Episodic, to Chronic, to Chronic Daily. During that process my use of Pain Management Meds changed from OTC NSAID's, to Opioids. Their increasing frequency lead to Rebounding or MOH (Medication Overuse Headache). My previous Pain Management Doctor had me using "old school" Pain Meds, and I found myself in a vicious downward spiral. That dreaded day occurred, he retired and dissolved his practice. My search for a new Doctor lead me to a Migraine Specialists, who with highest recommendations referred me to Dr. Wasserman for Pain Management. Dr. Wasserman is focus driven, first gathering the pertinent background information and details regarding my Migraines. We had an in-depth discussion of my current situation, medications used, and how the unrelenting chronic pain was in total control of my life. He listened attentively to my concerns, frustrations, and hopeful objectives. He explained in detail how my current traditional pain treatment program was doomed from the start. Dr. Wasserman developed a new tactical approach for my pain management. We started down a new path on a treatment program that could be tailored over time to my specific needs. He was very careful and methodical to ramp the dose up gradually and observe any potential side effects. The Pain Management program Dr. Wasserman put me on has made a significant and profound change in the quality of life I have now. My wife is also very grateful for the marked improvement. It's a Win-Win all around. I am ecstatic that Opioids and their long term detrimental effects are no longer part of my daily routine. Dr. Wasserman truly cares about his patients, their wellbeing, and their quality of life. His extensive knowledge and years of experience treating complex pain management conditions is unequaled. Julia, his support staff is top notch, there to provide first class assistance and support as needed, and you can contact him on his personal cell phone if needed. You won't find a better Pain Management Doctor to work with.

No one likes dealing with pain, and the whole prospect can become overwhelming unless you find effective treatment guided by an effective specialist. Dr,Wasserman is just that. His expertise, while focused on pain management, recognizes that pain is a multi causal thing and requires a multi prong approach. From sleep, to weight loss, to physical therapy, to an improved medication regimen....Dr.Wasserman has addressed comprehensive treatment of all these contributing factors and is having tremendous success. His common sense no nonsense approach is refreshing and results driven. You owe it to yourself to schedule an appointment with him and experience the difference for yourself.

Dr Wasserman is the best of the best! He saved my life. I was at the lowest point in my life before I came to his practice as a patient. Seven years later and I am now working full time, enjoying my family and most importantly, love myself again. He is creative and truly cares what is best for his patients. I have been to many doctors and hospitals in my life and have never found anyone in the entire field of medicine who truly listens to patients with chronic pain issues the way Dr Wasserman does. My first appointment with him lasted over 3 hours if that says anything. Thanks Doc for all you have done for me and my family. We are truly blessed to have you in our lives.
