“I have been going to St. Louis & Joint Specialists since they opened and WOW are Dr. Shomstein and Dr. Mekler amazing. I have never met more compassionate doctors in my life. They listen and they never rush you. And they are on the cutting edge with technology and research. Please go if you are living with pain. Your quality of life will change for the better and possibly permanently!!! This is my story. When I first met with them I was having horrible hip pain and was in tears. I had been to specialists for hips in the St. Louis area and did not need a replacement so they didn't offer other solutions. Dr. Shomstein injected both of hips suspecting bursitis. I immediately felt relief and had a number of injections and have never had to return for my hip pain. I have been pain free for 4 years. They actually listen to you and you are never rushed because they are perfectionists and get to the root cause of the problem . I have recommended them to a lot of my friends and they have all been thrilled with the results. I have not seen Dr. Shomstein in years and had a shoulder replacement two years ago and have been suffering with horrible neck pain. The chiropractor wasn't helping so I immediately called them. They got me in quickly and sent me for an MRI and determined that I had arthritis in my C1 and C2. Dr. Shomstein is so intelligent and did a thorough check of my neck. He was 99 percent confident that my surrounding muscles were causing the pain. Instead of putting injections into my spine, which can be really scary and is more invasive, he put injections into all of the muscles that he suspected were the issue. He took the less invasive procedure first. Within 3 days I realized he solved the problem. I started sleeping through the night. Hadn't in 2 years! I returned today, a month later for my follow up and told him that I was 95 % better. I hugged him and almost started crying. Living with pain becomes debilitating and I thought I had to live with this. Being the perfectionist that he is, he put a couple of injections into the areas that were still causing slight issues. I will return in 3 weeks and I know I will report that I am 100% better. I have a very stressful job and carry my stress in my neck like most of I do! And I'm 57. So if you are sick of living with pain, go see them. Do not live in pain!!!!!!”
