“I had a very poor experience with this office before ever seeing the physician. I arrived early for my new patient appointment and was informed that I would not be allowed to see the doctor unless I first completed a lumbar X-ray. I explained that I had already undergone both a recent MRI and CT scan of my back and wanted to discuss those findings with the physician before agreeing to additional radiation-based imaging. I made it clear that I was not refusing care--only requesting a discussion with the doctor about medical necessity. No alternative was offered. The only option presented was "get the X-ray or you won't be seen." Because I was not given the opportunity for informed consent or a conversation with the physician, I chose to leave and immediately called the office from the parking lot to explain the situation. No one ever returned my call, and I received no follow-up through the patient portal either. This felt less like patient-centered care and more like a rigid, protocol-driven process with no room for discussion. I expected better communication and respect, especially for a pain clinic evaluating someone with existing imaging. I wanted to see this doctor. Unfortunately, the lack of flexibility, communication, and follow-up made that impossible.”
