Patient Testimonials
“I was first referred to Dr. Pau due to concerns I had Fibromyalgia. He was one of the doctors that diagnosed me with Scoliosis and I believe Fibromyalgia as well. For years afterwards I struggled a lot with the pain as none of the medications and physical therapies were working. I hadn't seen Dr. Pau in a while after the first few visits, but was referred back to him when my primary care physician refused to sign off on a handicap placard even though I had had symptoms for years that would allow me to get it. He told me to see Dr. Pau again as he might sign off on it. I cried after that appointment as I felt unheard. I picked myself back up and with hope I went to see Dr. Pau. Well Dr. Pau told me that with my condition, Fibromyalgia, my brain makes me think I'm in pain when I'm not. Essentially saying I'm not in pain, my brain is just telling me I'm in pain even though that's exactly what feeling pain is-- your brain telling you your body is in pain. With a condition like Fibromyalgia, while you may not be able to see broken bones or actual physical damage to the body, the pain and suffering is very much real. It is a disorder that many doctors in the past claimed was fake. For a doctor in this day and age, and one that calls himself a pain specialist, to essentially gaslight a patient with said disorder by saying the pain you feel is just in your head is horrific, truly. He told me he can't sign off on a handicap placard for me since he can't just give those out to anyone who says they're in pain. He said that to me, when he was one of the first doctors I saw for my Fibromyalgia years before and there's medical documents he can see that prove I have tried almost all medications and available therapies for it and would even message my primary physician out of the blue several times during the past several years due to how much I was suffering on a daily basis. When I tried to explain all of this while my voice was shaking and tears were running down my face, all he did was try to rush me out of his room awkwardly to not deal with my crying. By the way, Dr. Pau's office looks shady from the moment you step foot in it. There was no one in the waiting room desk and you can see stacks of folders full of papers up to the brim all over the place. I waited for 10 minutes there and my appointment time was passing, so I called the office number and I heard the phone ringing with nobody showing up to even pick it up. After this horrible experience, I switched to a new primary care physician who after listening to what happened, signed off on my handicap placard that day. The first visit and she took me seriously. All she did was truly listen to me and look at my medical documents. Dr. Pau is not a well informed doctor and it's laughable honestly that he considers himself a pain specialist when he gaslights his patients by telling them they're not actually in pain, their brain just tells them they are as if that means the pain felt is any less severe.”

“Had my first injection with Dr Pau about 2 weeks ago. This procedure was virtually painless! I am waking with no pain and can walk longer distances without discomfort. Great and friendly staff! Thanks Dr. Pau!”

“Oahu Pain Care is an MDs office one Dr.Pau, a pain speaicialist. What a hypocrit, Dr Pau has a beautiful website none of it was true. I was referred to him by another speaicialist, no respect at all. Oahu Pain Care is an MDs office one Dr.Pau, a pain speaicialist. What a hypocrit, Dr Pau has a beautiful website to bad lots of what is written is just fluff and was not true. This is one of my Worst experiences with a MD and office staff ever! First I was racially profiled- I'm not brown or a Hawaiian, very unprofessional, but l having endured that and somehow passed the office girls' standards I was allowed to make an appointment, for the first appointment I was 10 minutes late (car accident on Pali hiway) to the appointment and sent away, not allowed to see Dr Pau - like I control traffic . The next two appointments I waited over an hour and 20 minutes to see the doctor. I was referred to him by another speaicialist, and he showed no respect for this at all. When his questionable treatment of injecting a large amount of steroid into my spine caused problems and the results was inconclusive, Dr Pau became angry and told me he could not work with "people like me" (with crushed disc and spinal fusion surgery issues) and dismissed me from his practice as I sat there crying from the pain of a muscle spasm after sitting fir 1.5 hours in a stiff chair waiting fr him. I then asked for trigger point injection on my during my last appointment for for pain, Dr Pau refused and dismissed me from that appointment with no help for chronic muscle spasms and pain and said he would not help me, there are others he could help more. So do not be fooled by or believe the nice website and keep looking especially if you are white skinned. This situation is hard to believe but true! Also I was not looking for options and was not seeking any prescriptions from him, yet I was treated like dirt. Really! A fail on all areas. No one should be subjected to such harassment especially from a MD who is sworn to help people first "do no Harm"”

“I didn't realize it at the time. But after going someplace else, I realized how risky my epidural was. No IV. Only one assistant. Outdated equipment. No sedation. No recovery time. There's more but, enough said. Won't be returning and do not recommend this pain management office.”
