“I was desperate for relief, which is very difficult to find in Charlottesville.... Shameful considering we're supposedly home to one of the country's best medical centers. Dr. Purev requires no mask (2025) in small waiting room, nor of admin staff, but once you enter into "his domain" masks are required. As you enter the "treatment room" you'll pass his office where he is mask free. I have zero problem with doctors of any nationality, but with a deep accent of any, with a mask, it's difficult to understand. Suffering with spinal arthritic spinal pain, after 2 years of talking to my primary, undergoing 4 weeks of pt, being told all was required for Medicare to cover charges, referred to pain management that wouldn't even return my calls for an appointment, was desperate for help. Dr. Purev met with me just inside the "zone" at least 6 feet from me, over a counter and masked, used a spinal model to try to explain what he interpreted from the MRI to be a nerve problem from arthritis in my lower spine. Supposedly, had to stick needles on both sides of my lower spine 3 times (each of which would last 30-45 minutes) before the final "branch block". OMG... lying face down on table, not seeing, nor explanation, pins/electrodes being stuck in lowest of lower back by a tech, to right and left of my spine, all the while he was to my left talking with whom I thought to be a family member about his "journey to become a doctor" in America, I was, what felt like, being electrocuted through the needles in my back. To the right side, my hips left the table, less on the right side. All the while, Dr. Purev only observed. This is my memory of the experience in this location. When my sister saw me come out, she was shocked by the look on my face... shock, pain. My pain was increased by this "treatment" and I recommend this facility to no one. They never followed up, and I had to request multiple times for records transfer. People need to make their own determinations; I was desperate. Based on my experience only, I do not recommend this. Interestingly, I'm unable to comment on other reviews.”
