Patient Testimonials

I have had several back surgeries over the years due to just plain old poor genetics. I was at my wits end seeing pain management docs, changing medication or insisting on alternative treatments that I had already tried. I tried anything and everything just so that I could get through the working day. Dr. McAnally was the first pain doc that sat down and listened and more importantly, believed and trusted me. The world of pain management is full of distrust for many good reasons. Dr. McAnally saw "me", and got to know me. He took that precious time for me. That kind of care can be a rare thing for doctors that deal with pain. They have to be wary of drug seeking patients. There are feeling of shame when you have chronic pain and need medication to help live your life, get your joy and happiness back instead of being stuck in bed holding your breath through pain. This is the norm for Dr. McAnally. He is an amazing doctor and human being who truly cares for his patients. I cannot say enough good things about him as well as his nurses, nurse practitioners, and med students and office staff. I thank them all from the bottom of my heart and spine.

When we moved to Alaska in 2012 I was on a lot of pain meds for a serious neck injury. Several surgeries and numerous procedures barely touched my pain. A year in Alaska brought more meds. I became a zombie. I could not function. Could not drive. I saw Dr Jones who asked if I would see Dr. McAnally for pain management. With a copy of all the meds that were prescribed for me, Dr. McAnally took one look and said that if I stayed with him he would knock holes in my meds. I thought he would reduce my dependency on some of the items. Months later with only one of my meds still in use he said that I didn't need it and explained how drugs become responsible for causing dependency. I really believed that I needed that pill but I also knew that every medication that he had eliminated from my list was good . I was feeling like myself again so I said "ok, you've been right about everything so far, so I'll trust you to quit it". 10 years later I have that bottle with all the pills still in it. It reminds me what I once lived through and what I never want to experience again. Thank you Dr.McAnally. The photo that is with this entry is me a few weeks shy of my 83rd birthday. My life is full of adventure, fun with family, husband, sons, daughters in law and grandkids. I take the snow off the roof, drive my snow machine or four wheeler, car, truck, and ice skated with my grandkids not long ago.
