Patient Testimonials

I got a new Abbott stimulator implanted in December of 2023. I was quite leary because I had a previous spinal cord stimulator implant years ago by a different brand/company. I had a very successful trial with the Abbott stimulator and decided to go ahead with the full implant. At first after the implant I had an unsettling vibration feeling at the battery area. The team nor my doctor had never heard of this sensation happening. It wasn't painful, but felt like a vibration that wasn't the same "tingle" sensation like the program I use on my device. Even when I turned the stimulator completely off I still felt the vibration feeling. I was getting great pain relief in my back and right leg where I needed it, but the vibration sensation was scary and nobody had ever heard of it. Dr. Sandra Thompson advised me to try some muscle relaxers and give it a month to see if it was just maybe a spasm from the implant procedure. I took her advice and the vibration just disappeared in around 3 weeks. I am so grateful how caring and attentive the Abbott team and Dr. Thompson were. I could not be happier with the stimulator now and it has just been life changing with the pain relief I have gotten. I would definitely advise anybody to give it a try if it is advised to them as a pain relief option by their doctor.

Felt like I was discriminated against, because I'm a recovering addict. I didn't know I had to provide a urine specimen at first appointment because it was a consultation. I explained this to the nurse, and told her I had just used the bathroom before getting there, she told me that was fine as long as they weren't prescribing an opioid medication. Then after asking me a series of questions which is normal,p but when I was asked If I was an addict I said yes but recovering, then all of a sudden the way I was treated completely changed. When she was done, she told the provider would be right in, after waiting for 40 minutes, before coming in the room, and whispering about me out in the hall the provider, and her assistant finally came in the room, and everything about her was intimidating, and I felt like I was at the police station in an interigation. Then she said she was prescribing me gabapentin which is a non opioid medication she's all were going to meed a urine specimen before we can prescribe you any medicine. That's fine I volunteered to give one at my next appointment, and they literally made me feel pressured to give one today, before Leaving their clinic regardless and I kept telling them I didn't have to go I could give one at my next appointment. They said it was state law, but I looked it up, and it states if you're being prescribed an opioid. Anyhow so the Dr left the room and the assistant kept insisting on a urine specimen. So then she's all I don't know what to do then so she went to ask the Dr, and she came back in and said the Dr was in a meeting and I told her that I would need two to three days notice because I had to set up medical transportation and then she got a dumbfounded look on her face like oh yeah huh like that wasn't going to work anyhow to make a long story short I got to stop providing a urine specimen I called the clinic and requested to replace with a different provider the receptionist got the manager on the phone after hearing what I had to say then she proceeded to tell me that I couldn't replace with a different provider because that was the owner of the clinic and she can talk to her or have her talk to me or whatever I told her no to ensure that they're not the only pain clinic in the area that I was going to go back to my provider and get a referral to a different pain clinic

I bring a friend here for her appointments. She likes it, likes the Dr. and the staff. I enjoy the cushy furniture while I wait.
