“I did not have a good experience with Dr. Shalmi and his staff. At the first appointment they asked for a urine sample. I've been to a different pain management doctor before but just thought that was their standard protocol. The doctor seemed caring, looked at my MRI, showed me what my issue was gave me a prescription referral for PT and offered medication. He said he would contact my insurance company to authorize a neck injection. A few weeks later a claim was submitted for numerous unnecessary tests to my insurance. The authorization and then an appeal were denied for some reason and the staff wanted me to self-pay for $400+. I went in for a second appointment to get a prescription for a muscle relaxant and the doctor looked over my records and then proceeded to tell me how bad my insurance is and seemed annoyed I did not go to the referred PT place (I went to one in network). The staff also gave me a hard time about renewing a prescription for a 30 day supply of a muscle relaxant! I changed insurance companies and decided to go to another doctor and had no problem getting an injection. Seems to me he was all about the money.”
