Patient Testimonials

I saw Dr. Soudan in October of 2024. I loved his professionalism and pinpointing my problems. However I have tried to get a follow up from that injection and every time I call, the receptionist puts me through to the office manager who does not answer or return my calls. This has been going on since October 2024. The office manager will not return my call so I can follow up from my last injection from Dr. Soudan or allow the receptionist to make an appointment for me. I don't feel that it is Dr. Soudan, I feel it is the office manager. I was first a patient at Bowie and when Dr. Closson left Bowie, they sent me to Columbia. I ended up asking that my records and me be transferred to Columbia from Bowie because I love Dr. Siudan. Bowie transferred my records. But now the office manager at Columbia refuses to allow me to come back for my follow-up or to make an appointment for my next injection. If anyone knows how you can get in touch with the Director of this facility, please share it.

I love the personable atmosphere of the location and the staff at the Columbia, Md., National Spine and Pain center. Dr. Sudan is the best! Tamika is, a wonderful person who really listens to your problems and help you to get the best care needed in a timely manner!

My initial appointment with Dr Soudan, I immediately felt he was not taking me serious at all. Upon him reading the different diagnosis that attributes to the severe pain I endure daily. Dr Soudan verbally downplayed how serious the issues and the pain I deal with daily, by telling me "I think they misdiagnosed you having SLE Lupus and Peripheral neuropathy ". I looked at him and told him I had seen many specialist, Rheumatologist, Neurologist, Hematologist, and my PCP. They then diagnosed me with SLE Lupus, amongst other diagnoses. I felt humiliated because I was there for help and relief for some of the pain I deal with daily, to be treated like I'm some addict seeking drugs. The straw that broke the camels back was the most recent visit, I asked to speak to the Ofc Mgr and after speaking to her, verbalizing my concerns, she sends in Dr Soudan. He entered the treatment room clearly annoyed. He had the audacity to tell me I can find another Doctor. He is the Medical Director there. I asked him why? Because I am advocating for myself and you all have had me on the same medication since 2022, with which my body has become prone to and their is really no relief of the severe pain I endure daily?! He proceeds to tell me " I do not increase no one's medication, you can find another Doctor." I told him I just want to get help for the pain I suffer, and they are the closet facility to my home. He was verbally disrespectful and I asked him what happened to your bedside manner?! I also elaborated that I too was a former health care practitioner. He proceeds to say "y'all are the worst to try to treat". I was not only dissatisfied, I couldn't believe he was so nonchalant and gave me all the verbiage that he cared to NOT treat or help me. He then proceeds to verbalize to me "I don't treat Lupus, go to your Rheumatologist". I told him based on all the Specialist I had seen, my PCP referred me to pain management. I have made a complaint, praying something changes for the better, for future patients. Finally, I told him I'm usually a very friendly person and I've had conversations with other patients in the waiting room, and other patients indicated their meds had been increased, but it took a lot of request, some even elaborated that they feel they are getting relief. Then I knew it was a bias against a certain persuasion of patients. All I want is some relief with regards to the chronic pain I suffer daily. It's unfair that some Doctor's stereotype certain people because of their own biases. I've had many injections and tried many different treatments, and suggested procedures at other facilities to no avail. I'm at the point to just give up hope with regards to getting proper care and treatment for the pain I deal with daily that affects my DLA. I've seen many different Doctors with NSPC since 2013, after I had several blood clots in my lungs in 2012, then came all the different diagnosis. I must say several Doctor's did try to give me some relief. ATP I'll just deal with the pain, rather than be verbally disrespected and made to feel like I don't deserve proper treatment, and be kicked out by the "Director" of the Columbia facility I was referred to. It's sad that the empathetic bed side manner has gone out the window since the pandemic. Many Doctors(NOT all) seem to be preoccupied with their own lives and are doing the bare minimum to truly accommodate patients. When I advocate for myself I was casted out like I don't matter, and or mean nothing to said Director. I have another upcoming appointment with the NP. She verbalized she has been trying to advocate for me, but Dr Soudan is firm with regards to not increasing my pain meds. I've decided to be treated as a human being, I'll transfer to another facility. Good luck, if you deal with chronic pain and are seeking relief and help, and you're melanated and go to the Columbia office. I pray you don't be verbally disrespected, humiliated and made to feel like you're just some junky seeking drugs.

When I moved here I had to find a new doctor to take over my treatment. Dr. Soudan listened to my problems and has helped me have quality of life. Front desk is patient and helpful. Couldn't recommend him and his staff more!
