Patient Testimonials

I haven't worked with the doctor there but Melissa is wonderful! She's compassionate, personable, down to earth and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend her. Before coming here I was grossly over prescribed. While it was scary coming off of certain meds and adjusting doses of others I'm so happy I did; less medication is working better for me. They really know what they're doing! Best, most responsible treatment I've ever received.

***My issue is not that I was asked to stop a medicine that potentially could interact with a new medication. I'm disappointed by the way I was treated, and that I wasn't even allowed to see the doctor and discuss what medicines need to be stopped. This information could have been given to me in the first phone call I made instead of stringing me along for 6 weeks while I was in pain. When I called, they took note of my medicines and asked if I was willing to stop them and I said YES. This was a terrible experience because no one told me initially so I could get things adjusted prior to an appointment. The doctor refused to even see me.*** I was referred to Lake Washington Pain Management by my PCP. They never called me for an appointment, and after a week I called them. Spoke with Rebecca who said she had to send my info, including current meds, to the doctor to approve me as a patient. She instructed me to get 1 month of pain medicine from my PCP because they had appointments in early June. There was no callback after a week, so I called back. Rebecca was out of office. A receptionist said she would be out until 5/22 and that Rebecca is the one who handles scheduling so she couldn't schedule me. I called back 5/22. Rebecca apologized and said she worked me into the schedule for Friday 5/26 since I only have 8 days of medicine remaining. She called me back on 5/24 to tell me the doctor would not see me because I'm prescribed 1mg of Clonazepan (1x per day). This is prescribed by my psychiatrist who I see regularly. I had told Rebecca in our first phone call I was willing to discuss changing those meds, but they refused to see me until I have stopped them completely. Not only was this interaction the most unprofessional I have experienced, but it puts me in an awkward situation with my PCP and current medications.

Dr. Naibert, is the worst. I met this this guy in 2006 in Edmonds WA. He was more worried about his new house under construction on mercer Island then me. He's rude, obnoxious, and treats you as a patient second class. He's had his problems, but I shouldn't have been the one he takes it out on. I can say nothing positive about him. Stay away. His true colors came out the first day I met him. He'll give you more pain than you knew you had. I was even told to boycott Walgreens in Edmonds because there was an issue with them calling authorities on him. There was actually a post it note hanging in the patient room, that's how I learned of it.

I've been a happy and relatively pain free patient for over five years. Unlike the other negative reviews, I understand pain specialist must stay on top of the demanding and ever evolving regulations. These regulations mean patients must also follow specific rules placed on them by the provider at Lake Washington Pain Management. Some of these rules may not make sense to those who refuse to adapt as required to ensure their pain management plan doesn't put their lives in danger. One drug screen showed nicotine. They were quick to question me on this fearing I had begun using tobacco products. Nicotine can negatively interact with some medications. Prior to being accepted as a patient at Lake Washington Pain Management I was being grossly over prescribed. In addition I was prescribed a deadly combination of medication. Being accepted to the Lake Washington Pain Management may have very well saved my life. In addition to weaning me off prescriptions with deadly interactions Doctor Naibert began immediately reducing the grossly over prescribed medication. It took nearly two years, but we were able to comfortably and painlessly reduce my med by 80% (***every patient, their prescriptions, and their situation is different. Do not use my experience as a template for your individual treatment plan***). We've been so successful reducing my meds and tweaking meds/therapies, I was able to reduced meds a further 33% on my own last year. It is true, less is indeed more. Prior to Dr Naibert accepting me as a patient I would wake with horrible headaches each and every day. My previous doctor simply kept increasing the doses while adding in and trying new medications. That provider nearly killed me. There were serious signs I was overdosed. However I didn't know what or how to recognize signs of overdose. Besides I was being treated by a pain specialist....right? Wrong. I would pass out and sleep for hours any time of the day. I gained over 45 pounds eating anything with sugar and drank 12 cups of coffee a day. To be fair I have complex injuries and conditions. However that is no excuse for over dosing me and prescribing me a deadly cocktail. After switching doctors I asked the pharmacist about the deadly cocktail; she admitted she had concerns and phone the doctor multiple times over the years but was told she had no need for concern. She now knows to report deadly prescription interactions when a provider shows indifference and she feels the patient in danger. Sadly not all pharmacist have the courage to confront doctors and report potentially deadly prescriptions. As others have noted Dr. Naibert can be intense. To some his personality and opinions may be too much..... however he is now retired. Although retired he has filled in a time or two. This clinic serves the diverse public. As such patients are also diverse. Which clearly indicates this clinic does not discriminate, seek high net worth cash only patients, or operate as a pill mill. And yes, like all other pain clinics there are addicts who show up with a valid referral seeking treatment. All I can say on that is I've never seen those who appear sketchy twice. They likely were refused opioids. This clinic is not dirty, nor a pill mill for street addicts. The gentleman who posted the false review was likely not accepted as a patient, was refused an opioid prescription, or was told he would no longer be treated because he failed a drug test. I trust Lake Washington Pain Management with my life. I honestly believe they saved my life. Give them a call if you want a provider who cares and will work with you to find the correct pain management plan tailored to your specific needs.
