Patient Testimonials

10.29.25 7:50am Daddy had the Medial Branch Block temporary lidocaine injections at his lumbar by Dr. Lo at the Spine and Sports Surgery Center. These injections (6 in total) proved to be absolutely helpful for the entire day he received them, he felt no pain in that region at all! Next will be right into the RF Ablation, no need for steroid injections or a secondary test branch block shot due to dad's ins. We are hoping upon hope the ablation will relieve dad of his chronic pain, at least in his lumbar. It looks like Dad will need Cervical Discectomy with Fusion at his C1-C2 as the large Pannus seen on Stanford Imaging CT may be compressing the spinal cord and brainstem :( 10.06.25 10am Dr. Justin Lo, MD, is the Pain Specialist (and is also an Anesthesiologist) for myself and daddy. He is very kind and thoughtful, assesses possible solutions and fulfills patient satisfaction. We cannot thank Dr. Lo enough! Daddy is looking forward to seeing if the steroid shot will ease his lower spine pain in November so that he can be more progressive in his physical therapy. Front desk staff are very prompt, kind and helpful, thank you to them! *Note: Dr. Lo is always VERY on time. And his little in house buddy, Yoda, is so, so adorable!!!

05.27.25 Our daughter had her first appt with Dr. Justin Lo. He was promptly on time, very knowledgeable, helpful and caring to our daughter's issues. Though Dr. Lo doesn't necessarily treat chronic pain from Ankylosing Spondylitis as it's a Rheumatologist specialty, he was patient and kind in listening to our daughter and gave her many useful advice which she will take to heart before her follow up with Dr. Lo in 3 months. Receptionist was very nice. Also the little dwarf Goldendoodle buddies are in Dr. Lo's office lying quietly in the corner not bothering anyone. If you are allergic to dogs then don't pet them, there's even a poster at reception area asking people not to pet the babies. But the one in office today, he was a total sweetheart, very cute and well behaved. Our daughter loved petting him!

Dr. Justin Lo managed my sciatica pain which was induced by a disc herniation. He treated my husband for low back pain in the past, so I trusted him with my care. Dr. Lo was very supportive of my desire to avoid surgery until it was absolutely necessary, focusing instead on physical therapy and steroid shots for pain management. He was also very intentional in managing my diabetes amidst the pain therapies. When the possibility of emergency surgery arose, Dr. Lo got me the best Surgeon and continually communicated with my surgeon, including on the weekends and in the early mornings. I have never known physicians to be so responsive and dedicated as mine have been. Thank God I am now healed of the inflammation surrounding my sciatic pain without surgery, and I truly appreciate the astounding and incredibly compassionate care that Dr. Lo provided.

This review is not for Dr. Justin Lo. It's for Dr. Tanzina Khan. Dr Khan is the worst pain management doctor in the Bay Area. She has absolutely no empathy and no plan on how to go about treating a patient. The only plan she has is that, "I can see you in a few weeks and then we will decide what to do after that". It's possible that after a few weeks the patient's health can get worse, but she doesn't care about it. She kept citing what her practice policy for injections is, which is giving injections after a few months, which is not necessarily supported by the medical literature. I have seen multiple doctors and no doctor told me that for my health condition, I need to take injections after a few months. Some doctors told me that I need injections after every two weeks or after a month, and she is the first doctor I met who said that she won't be able to give me any injections for the next 3 months. Where did she come up with this number of 3 months, I have no idea. Additionally, Dr. Khan seems to be totally confused and mixed up about her own thoughts and ideas. She converted one of my phone call appointments with her in January to an in person visit with her in her office where she wanted to discuss nerve block injections. When I met her, she had totally forgotten about it. She was not willing to discuss it at all. I travelled all the way to San Jose from the east bay to discuss these injections, but she was totally against even talking about it. Then why did she call me to her office, I have no idea. I don't want to meet a doctor just for chit-chat; I want to get a treatment plan or get treatment done when I see a doctor. I never felt that Dr. Khan came up with any treatment plan to help me recover from the multiple health problems that I'm facing.
