“I was seen and treated by Dr. Ptacek and his amazing staff for a herniated disc that resulted in L4-L5 nerve compression that left me hospitalized. Immediately following discharge from Monument hospital, and STILL wearing hospital scrubs because I had no clothes, his staff checked me in and was very welcoming. The back injection for the L4-L5 I read previously was a dreaded experience for some, but mine was better than the best. I LITERALLY felt a teeny pinch and a couple nerve "zaps" (Dr let me know he's in the right spot, we both laughed during the procedure) I DID NOT FEEL the needle travel to the nerve site AT ALL. I seriously tried to focus on the pain I was expecting from the needle and I happily failed. When Dr. Ptacek said " We're all done" I lay there in UTTER amazement! How IN THE UNIVERSE could people dread THAT injection when I've suffered a great deal of pain worse from a paper cut! I think many people hype this injection up because it's performed under Xray and they have to ensure they place the medication in EXACTLY the correct position. While many others believe this procedure was the " worst experience of my life, I had just the opposite! Keep in mind I came directly to Dr. Ptacek's office from being an inpatient at the hospital still in hospital clothes because my husband had taken my clothes home to wash. Dr. Ptacek: I cannot express my admiration more for your care, professionalism, compassion, and excellent practice staff more.
