INTERVENTIONAL PAIN MANAGEMENT: Dr. Kalyan Kalava

“Dr Kalava has resolved years of pain I have been experiencing. For many years my back had been getting worse and worse to the point several.months ago that even walking around my own house and doing the basics of daily life was really difficult, slow and depressing because I was so uncomfortable. I had been in treatment with various chiropractors and spent thousands of dollars which helped only a small amount before it stopped being effective. I have only seen Dr Kalava a few times but his suggestions and treatment program have been incredibly effective (and no.. he did not just try to presribe gabapentin and call it a day) I feel better than I have in literally years. I have always been quite active until my back and nerve pain put a stop to it a few years ago. My mood is so much better with the reduction in pain because not being able to walk, sit, or even lay down without varying amounts of pain really depressing. I don't understand the bad reviews unless they are coming from people who who went to see him simply hoping for drugs and pain meds. His approach is more full and holistic and geared toward actually healing the cause of your pain rather than just prescribi nh your discomfort away. I realize everyone will not have the fast results I did but i have been in treatment for this for literally YEARS elsewhere without genuine results. Big positive reviews from me . I could not be more pleased and more impressed and I am so pleased to be able to start getting back to my "real normal".”

“If he can't fix you with his surgical procedures, he will let you suffer for years in agony. He comes into the appointment, and does not even look at you. His back is at you the entire time while he types on the computer. He asked me 3 times in one appointment if I had tried Lyrica... not paying attention to my answer, and clearly not remember HE was the one that prescribed it at one point!! He isn't listening, and he isn't paying attention. There is only a very small subset of people that are treated properly here. I called in agony, and their nurse pointed me to a DOCTOR ON FACEBOOK. You HAVE to be kidding me?? If your pain is controlled with Gabapentin, this is your savior! If you have any type of complex pain that may require some thought or action... I highly recommend not wasting your time. It will just make make your mental health worse. I'm finally out of there, so I can be honest about my experience.”

“I really like Dr. Kalava. He's a very busy man, doing injections in between office visits. So sometimes there's a bit of a wait. But he has always answered all of my questions, tried all the different medications until we found what worked best for me, and he does my injections when I need them. He's very business-like, so he isn't into joking around. But that's fine, as I'm only there for pain management. I don't have anything negative to say about him, and I've been seeing him for about 10 years. He has an assistant, Allison Friberg, and she is also great. I find them both very easy to talk to, and I'm never left with unanswered questions. It's five stars from me for all of the office staff as well. All in all, I couldn't say anything bad about any of them. I feel blessed to be a patient there.”
