What Patients Say
Patient Testimonials
“As a patient, a sense of safety is critical--especially during intimate medical examinations. Unfortunately, I wasn't adequately informed about what to expect, which left me feeling vulnerable and unnecessarily stressed. Trauma-informed care is not just psychological; it is deeply neurobiological. When patients are not prepared for what is about to happen, their nervous systems can enter states of hyperarousal or dissociation, which undermine healing and trust. For example, I wasn't told in advance that I'd be lying face down for most of the procedure or that access to my legs up to my knees would be required. A simple heads-up or guidance about wearing appropriate clothing would have reduced discomfort and prevented the feeling of being caught off guard. During the procedure, the lack of verbal communication further added to the discomfort. Even small actions, like approaching to listen to my heart and lungs without explanation, triggered dissociation. Clear verbal cues--such as "I'm going to listen to your heart and lungs now, is that okay?"--would have allowed my nervous system to prepare, reducing stress and the need to dissociate. This was particularly challenging during the needling and EMG. While I wasn't bothered by the procedure itself, the absence of simple phrases like "I'm going to poke here now" or "Are you ready?" left me feeling overwhelmed and objectified. Providing these small verbal cues would have given me a sense of control and reduced my nervous system's stress response. The experience underscored how essential clear communication and informed consent are as tools to help patients regulate their nervous systems. These simple adjustments--providing clear instructions, explaining what will happen next, and ensuring patients feel a sense of agency--can make a world of difference for patients, particularly those with medical trauma or PTSD. I hope the practice considers adopting more trauma-informed approaches, as they would benefit not only the patients but also the care relationship overall.”

“Do yourself a favor and do NOT go here. They must of paid for these "raving" reviews. They are not professional and do not respect people's time at all. Richard will schedule you while he is talking on the phone and do not put your info in the system. Show up for appointments to be told that the doctor isn't in or swearing me up and down that its not my appointment day. This has happened three times. They do not even have enough courtesy to call the patients and let them know something has changed. This entire office is incompetent. Surgery was supposed to be scheduled for me today but after this I don't feel comfortable with them doing a procedure on me when they can't even keep appointments straight and the doctor awake!!!!! Do Not entertain this practice, you have been warned!”

“Infinity Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation has been nothing shy of amazing. Rich is warm, welcoming, and so helpful. Dr Zelefsky is patient, kind and understanding. Both have really provided me with a level of care that has been personable, professional, and most importantly comforting. I was involved in an accident that has been pretty traumatic.. From the total loss of my car to the physical pain and changes in my mental health, it has been a very difficult time for me. However, coming to this office has restored my faith in medical practice of true genuine and caring providers who don't look at me for my past, but as an individual, and patient with a complex history they're willing to work with and aide in finding comforting resolution. Truly, I can not thank them enough for proving me with this level of care. ***** 5 out of 5 stars. Highly recommend.”

“The quality of care I received at Infinity Physical Medicine & Rehab was top notch. Richard Tyas (Practice Administrator), and Dr. David Zelefsky provided a wonderful and warm experience from start to finish. I also must say that the staff at Infinity was like dealing with trusted family. Dr. Zelefsky was not only personable, he also is a great listener, and very empathic to the concerns of his patients. I would definitely recommend Infinity for patients who are experiencing chronic pain due to injury. Signing Off, Healed, and very impressed”
