Hillsdale Hospital - Pain Management in Hillsdale, Michigan
Patient Testimonials
“I went to the ER yesterday 2.5 weeks post op ( surgery done at Hillsdale hospital as well after care has been less than desirable) the surgeon who did my surgery is on vacation. One of my IV sites from surgery is still pretty painful, hot to the touch, and I have a purple/red rash going up my arm from the IV sites. The actual puncture site from the IV has a big white ring around it as well. With my surgeon being on vacation I went to the ER to get looked at. In walks the physicians assistant the one with face piercings and a horrible attitude. 0 bed side manner, she walked in arms folded. She asked what I was being seen for I explain and she doesn't even pretend to examine or have any interest in seeing me. She doesn't even put gloves on, doesn't look at the rash, doesn't examine the area or anything. Her arms remained crossed the entire 3 mins she was in my room. She said go home and put a warm compress on it that it's "normal" I had two IVs for surgery the other you can't even tell anymore. I have had several IVs in my lifetime and no it's not normal for it to progressively become more painful after 2.5 weeks. I tell her I disagree and point out she didn't even look, her response was well I'm not prescribing you any antibiotics or running any test you can have your surgeon do that. Yeah if my surgeon was available I wouldn't had been there! I really hope they don't plan to bill me or my insurance for anything outside of vitals. I wasn't examined or anything. I called to make a complaint got a voicemail pretty sure I won't receive a follow up call. UPDATE I did get a return call about my complaint. The lady was very nice, and I felt heard. I however am still completely appalled by the initial PAs bedside manner and lack of professionalism.”

“I've been living in Hillsdale for over three years now. The care here is TERRIBLE. Save yourself and just drive to Coldwater. I've been to the hospital a few times, once for a birth, and a surgery. During my son's birth my nurse stepped on my IV and epidural cord and ripped it out of my hand and back. Causing the doctor to have to redo my epidural. If the nurse would have just took the time to check on me she wouldn't be rushing into my room after leaving me for hours. It was a terrible experience. If they would just care and have enough staff it could have been a better experience. After all of that the doctor who delivered my baby gave me medication and then I was having terrible reactions and then decided to "google" the side effects of the medication. What a joke! I would not give a medication if I have no idea what it will do to a person. Just save yourself some money and go elsewhere.”

“I went in for chest pain and muscle aches, and they ran all sorts of tests. According to them, I was fine (even though some of the blood test results showed something unusual). They sent me home with painkillers. I gave the same test results to a real doctor at another hospital. I had a bacterial infection, and it showed up clearly in my results. Oh, and by the way, the painkillers made things worse. Thanks for nothing.”

“Since I have lived in Michigan(3 years). I just found this hospital, was in their ER twice and the staff was completely understanding! Dr. Gerkin, (nurses) Kelsey, Allison, Bianca!!!! And not only that they remember me by name the second time!! I will never go to another hospital! Very pleased and this staff needs recognition!!”
