Patient Testimonials

I have been dealing with chronic degenerative pain in the low back for years. I started going to Dr. Patel for over a year and have finally been getting relief with the epidural shots he has been giving me. He is so in tuned to his patients and he is constantly asking if you are comfortable during your procedure. He and his staff will keep you in the recovery area until your blood pressure is in the range for you to leave. I have had 4 epidural shots with Dr. Patel and he is always pleasant and makes sure you are comfortable. I would HIGHLY recommend him to my family and friends!

I've been referred here three times for chronic pain. Every time I saw a Nurse Practioner, never a Dr. Every time I was suggested a neurostimulator. When I called back to ask questions about the stimulator, no one ever called me to answer my questions. If you're in chronic pain due to back/spinal injuries or degeneration and are not interested in a spinal cord stimulator, they are not interested in you! Total waste of my time and $$!!

My 77 year old mother was referred to Dr. Patel approximately 6 months ago for chronic lower back & leg pain and he has been an absolute godsend. I don't understand why he or is staff are poorly reviewed. I have taken my mom to several pain mgmt physicians prior to deciding on Dr. Patel and he was the most thorough and thoughtful with his diagnosis and suggestions of treatment options. My mom is highly sensitive to touch (as in EVERYTHING feels tender or achy on her body) and deals with high blood pressure (likely due to pain but also due to poor heart health) issues to complicate matters and Dr. Patel is so patient with working with her, her anxiety levels, her heart (high blood pressure) and her cardiologist in offering her the most effective & safest treatment. I suppose, I could see why others MIGHT suggest arrogance and/or indifference but I think those are misguided perceptions. The first appointment...the consultation, Dr. Patel is collecting all the information and oftentimes it's complicated and a great deal to weed through. Especially if the patient is anything like my mother and has had already seen an array of physicians and has attempted a variety different treatments. Sorting it all out takes a level of concentration that most of us would not understand. We decided to choose Dr. Patel because he was so thorough and willing to try some different options that other physicians never mentioned. Each appointment after the initial consultation has been remarkable and her progress with pain relief has been slow. It's not a "one size fits all" pain mgmt assembly line operation and Dr. Patel is a genuinely interested in my mom's pain mgmt AND well being. Also, the entire staff at the front desk as been paramount in assisting us with handling paperwork & insurance needs and the medical staff does a phenomenal job at keeping my mom comfortable and safe; never dismissing her prematurely after having a treatment. Dr. Patel and his medical team have been so kind and gentle with her. My mom is actually pretty enthused about going to her appointments there. Which is amazing, considering it almost always involves an epidural and/or needle of some kind hitting an irritated nerve. We both arrive knowing that she is in good hands and receiving the best care. We are also grateful that it's so close to home (unlike Mayo). Do not let the first consultation fool you. Hear Dr. Patel out and at minimum, give 1 or 2 treatment suggestions a try. His no nonsense approach AND bed side manner has been exceptional.

Dr. Patel is very arrogant. His staff, as far as I can tell, are good at setting up appointments. It took a lot of effort on my part to receive any useful information from his staff. It took months and a lot of phone calls before I could get my final bill- this service was contracted out. During my appointment- Dr. Patel had a staff member go into the room with us. While administering one of my injections, he asked her if she could see on the screen where he was placing the needle. She responded, "no." After my appointment, I called the office and asked if they have an LPN or an RN as a part of their staff- their response was "no." The person in the room when Dr. Patel was administering the injection- was his receptionist! Finally, when a letter was requested to sum up my treatment, etc. he wanted to charge me $500.00 an hour- the cost did not include the letter. I received relief from the injections; but I would never go back to Dr. Samir Patel nor do I recommend him.
