I like her transparency. They drug tested as soon as I got there for my initial consult. The strips were on the bottle, so by the time I washed my hands, I could see the results. I am a medical marijuana user, which is the only thing that showed positive, and she didn't mind. She needs to know upfront if someone is using multiple drugs, street drugs, or drugs they're not being prescribed. Considering she's a pain management doctor, she has to cover herself and prevent drug seeking patients from pulling the wool over her eyes. She gave me a mild pain medication to use as needed, during the day, since I use the marijuana at night only (when my pain is the worst). She also sat with me for a long time, asking lots of questions about my history and health and took notes. She said that my health issues are complex. She also said she would review and investigate to get a complete picture and provide the best treatment. She was thorough, patient, transparent, and warm. If you're truly having pain issues and need more attention/answers than your primary care doctor will provide, I recommend Dr Karen P. I appreciate that she's local. It's hard on me to drive to Sacramento for doctor appointments.

She is very rude. She thinks it is her way or the highway. Does not treat you like a patient that has a need for help with pain she treats you like a drug addict. She asks how things are going or how the pain is and you tell her the truth and it is a waste of time because she won't work with you. I have been with her for a long time and she should know I am no drug dealer or a druggie myself. I always have to prove myself. She is a drill sergeant. Don't go there also I have ended up talking around with others and they have problems too.

I have a hard time with the last 2 reviews for opposite reasons . First, I've been on pain meds since 2006. I've been with a Pain Management Doctors since 2007. The first thing every PM does beyond the history taking usually you are diagnosed and sent to a pm if you are going to need long-term stong pain med use. Or you go yourself after you have already been with a pm doc but moved and need one where you live now. I still get a PC Dr. first, that's how I came to Dr.Pantazis. next, they make you sign a contract that can't get drugs from any other doctor, and that's my problem with the girl that said she smoked weed at night for her pain... I've signed contracts with about 5 PMs because of moving or insurance changes. All of them said you are not allowed to use Any type of Marijuana products. And as the other girl that kept whining about Dr.P acting like she was drilling her every time... maybe if she wasn't resistant, it wouldn't have felt that way. All PM's ask the same questions every visit. That's their jobs. Their not there to make it completely easy. They're there to help us be as close to pain-free as possible. And as much as I love my new Pain Management Team (Aaallll the way on the other end of and I do mean end Sac, I cold keep going on I-5 and eventually go to the Redwoods but don't know how far my wheelchair would take me into Redwoods and I wouldn't want to give my Daughter anymore heart attacks) .I would wish Doctor P to come back. Anyway, after Dr. P. got into her accident and decided to retire she started letting patients go.I asked to please keep me until the very end, and she did. So I hope she's enjoying her retirement. She Deserves it. Miss you, Dr. P Ps.What I hear missing in a lot of these Are People getting Diagnosed By A PC DOCTOR FIRST LIKE EXRAYS OR HOW LONG WHERE THEY IN SEVERE PAIN BFORE THEY WENT. I WAS I SEVERE FORE A YEAR BEFORE I WENT. SO BADLY SO THAT I WENT THROUGH EVERY TYPE OF EXCRUCIATING INJECJECTION INTO MY BACK AND SPINE WHERE THE NEEDLE THAT STAYED IN THE WHOLE TIME WHILE THEY WERE GUIDING IT AND MOVING IT AROUND BY AN EXRAY MACHINE ABOVE ME ALL I COULD DO WAS LAY PERFECTLY STILL AND CRY THE WHOLE TIME. ALL THOSE FIRST 4 OR 5 WERE DONE JUST BY A NUMBING SHOT THAT ONLY NUMBED THE OUTSIDE. AFTER THAT I WOULD ONLY DO IT UNDER ANASTASIA. WERE I WAS ASLEEP WHEN IT STARTED AND ASLEEP UNTIL I WAS COMING OUT. THEN YEARS LATER THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT A DEVICE THEY COULD IMPLANT THE BATTERY IN My BACK THEN THEY HAD WIRES COMING FROM IT TO MY SPINAL CORD. CALLED A SPINAL STIMULATER. IT EVEN HAD AN MRI MODE I COULD ADJUST IT TO ON THE IPOD THAT CAME WITH IT. SO I COULD STILL GET MY CANCER RECHECKS. The only thing was I started having bad falls and I needed an MRI on my brain but my stimulater wouldn't go into MRI MODE so they had to get someone from the company come out my PM'S office that I go to now they discovered that during one one my bad falls I knocked loose most of my wires so I finally had it taken out in March I think. Now I just got ready ready for my kidney cancer recheck mri and also my brain mri. So all of you who say you were so mistreated by Dr. P. I hope whatever doctor you're going to now, your willing to try any possible treatment to get out of pain. And not just go there expecting opioid. If you are really in that much pain, then you would be willing to try anything to get out of it.There are even new meds that can replace opiods I'm on one to replace my morphine and it's a patch. I still have to take my Norco for my breakthrough pain.but I have high hopes.

Dr. Pantazis is the most professional doctor I've been to. She knows the difference between people wanting to get high, and people living with terrible chronic pain. She is no nonsense, tells it like it is. Just be straight with her, tell the truth, and she will treat you accordingly!
