COR Spine & Pain Center

Practicing in Northern Nevada since 1997, Dr. Witmer uses the latest technology to analyze and treat spine, nerve and muscle damage, as well as musculoskeletal trauma and disease. He is trained in electrodiagnostics (EMG), muscle, joint and spine injections. He uses a team approach to evaluate and treat spine (back and neck) pain, sciatica and pain that is reoccurring or of uncertain origin. Emphasizing time tested, non-operative protocols for inflammation control, the swelling and therefore the pain, can be mitigated. This control is then maintained with training in a self driven home program of mechanical and medicinal treatments.

I've been coming to see Dr. Witmer and his kindly staff for since 2017. They are excellent! I originally saw the Doc for aching legs after seven fruitless years of doctors and tests. I also have sciatica and the incessant aching was often waved away by other doctors as "just sciatic". It was extremely frustrating as they wouldn't listen to me when I said that the pain was different. Then I saw Doc Witmer, he really listened to the whole story and then put some pressure points on the outside of my hips- when I squeaked a little he said he thought that the bursae was inflamed. He treated this with injections into the area, and explained that it's common for physicians to get fixated on one thing (sciatica in my case), and not look beyond that. I went home that day and finally started feeling relief. The Doc has treated my bursitis and sciatica for a long time now, and the bursitis has been very quiet over the last several years, needing only one injection on one side recently because of my own doing . I don't know where I'd be without this doctor's care and I'm so thankful that I found him. If you have an issue that's been ongoing and it seems that you're at a dead end with finding a diagnosis and subsequent treatment then Dr. Witmer may be the Doc for you. Also a big shout out to the staff- thanks Kelly for helping work around my crazy schedule! Thanks to all the friendly faces too. You guys are just the BEST! Update 2025: I originally wrote this review a couple of years ago, I wanted to refresh it as there isn't a more deserving medical practice in our Reno area. If you've had spinal epidurals elsewhere with not much response please give COR a try. Dr. Witmer has absolutely saved me. If you're trying to avoid surgery go see him; he's been helping me do exactly that for eight years. I was very hard on my spine for most of my life, I'm 59 now, I first injured it working with horses at 17 years old, in my late twenties and early thirties I was a logger, from my thirties on I've been a trucker. I fell off horses, fell with horses, and had horses fall on me; I ran chainsaws, set chokers, and ran heavy equipment; I jumped off flatbeds and in general have been very hard on myself over the decades. Dr. Witmer's care enabled me to keep chaining up my eighteen wheeler for many more years than I would have thought possible. Lastly I would like readers of this review to know that this is a tight knit family oriented practice. I see the same core staff year over year, Kelly and Jan, and the wonderful front office and scribe, and the lovely lady that takes care of me for the epidurals- I'm terrible at names - please forgive me because you ALL are just the best. You deserve far more than a just a good review.

Dr Whitmer & staff are incredibly passionate. I have been seeing this office since 2018. They make it easy to make/reschedule appointments. I feel heard! They took my symptoms seriously & have been providing me with multiple methods to help keep me moving around. My medical care has been phenomenal here. I would highly recommend. Kelly, Jen, Bryan, Brandon & all staff are informative & take pride in their work. Thank you for taking care of me & always being available to answer all my questions!! Procedures Dr Whitmer provided me include multiple Epidurals & multiple Trigger point injections in my back & neck area. Dr will insure ur comfort & confidence in the treatments. They help tremendously!!
