Patient Testimonials

I have been going to the Pain Clinic at Cayuga medical for over 10 years now. They are all wonderful there my provider Jeanne is wonderful always looking out for my best interest. I suffer from quite a few autoimmune issues and chronic pain with them fighting against each other is just awful. It's a struggle.

My visit to Cayuga Pain Management was troubling from the start. The front desk receptionist offered a cold disingenuous greeting and vague directions--no effort to create a welcoming or clear experience. At the intake window, I expected better. Instead, the woman checking me in was eating at the desk and on what sounded like a personal call, repeatedly asking, "Who's going to be there?" while I stood waiting just a few feet away. It was only later that I realized she was also the LVN, not clerical staff. This was not an appropriate way to handle patient intake in a medical setting. During vitals, the LVN corrected me unnecessarily about how I described my spinal pain, focusing on semantics ("neck" vs. "spine") rather than listening. The interaction was cold, mechanical, and disengaged. After vitals, I waited in the exam room for more than 45 minutes with no update. The clinic was quiet, and I was likely one of the first patients. When I stepped out to ask, the LVN told me the doctor was "on her way." **In reality, Dr. Qi Zhang was already sitting a few feet away with her back to me, silently listening to the conversation. She allowed her staff to lie on her behalf--a deception she clearly didn't expect to be caught in, because she never turned around. It wasn't until I returned to the window and said I would be leaving that Dr. Zhang spun around and said, "I was just about to see you." I asked, "You're the doctor?" She then repeatedly said, "The decision is yours"--oddly, as if her title alone should override the clear deception I had just witnessed. They got caught in a lie. If she hadn't turned around, I wouldn't have known. It's clear Dr. Zhang assumed I was in enough pain that I'd overlook their behavior and proceed with care anyway. That's a deeply unethical position to put a patient in: to exploit discomfort and urgency in hopes that it will silence concern. It didn't. I left without being seen. If this is how they operate when someone's paying attention, what else happens when they're not? This clinic demonstrated poor communication, lack of transparency, and an erosion of trust. I would not recommend care with Dr. Qi Zhang or this practice.

after telling qi zhang of what kind of pain i was dealing with for many years and what issues i have been having i was told by her that i infact was not in pain and that i did not have any issues with my neck even though clearly my mri showed i had major issues with my discs causing grinding and pain and extreme headaches from the grinding from herniated discs protrusions bone spurs etc. ha what a joke of a facility! she tried to blame everything on my carpal tunnel and said that the pain in my back and neck was just my muscles acting up when it clearly wasnt because my discs have been grinding in my neck. would not even offer me shots like i had been pushed so hard by neurology and pt and my physician to try to get for what was going on, instead i was told its just my muscles and that i am not in pain and when i asked if i should try to get a mri on my mid back where my back was getting stuck in place when i would bend down or up and have to force myself through to pop my back to stand straight back up or fully bend over and the extreme burning pain in my back in my spinal area and shoulder blades constantly and the extreme pain in disc my physical therapy person found she told me that i should not get a mri and that nothing is wrong with my mid back either and that it would be a waste of my time, which is quite funny because all of this is causing me to lose muscle in my arm and im getting swelling bad in left shoulder/shoulder blade and losing the ability to use my arm and gripping. she had the audacity to put on my chart that she told me all this other stuff like she offered shots and told me to continue pt and all this other crap but in reality she said none of this during conversation! i will not recommend this doctor or this pain clinic, i feel as though i was mistreated and thrown away. i had gone through the steps 4 years prior to go to pain management after being in pain for many years and got too scared and denied going to pain management and now that i have gotten worse and am in pain almost every single day i get this from this "doctor". what a waste of my time trying to get help and just being told its nothing and nothing is wrong with me. kind of a joke really, i wont come back to this facility. unprofessional and seems like she does not care about the patients coming in seeking professional help for their pain.
