“had issues with dr. owen's...,.. was very judgmental and didn't believe me about a few things.... when i sent him proof from every single doctor and surgery i had recently, he refused to see me, had the PA talk to me instead who was new, and completely took me off of my medication and instead tried replacing it with a medication that is mainly used for OUD, yeah no thanks. i truly thought after expressing my concerns to the office manager, i would be treated differently, but i feel lied to and discriminated against. pain management isn't worth how they treated me. stay far away.”

“8/23/24 I was a patient of Dr. Jonathan Gardner at the Pain Institute of Charleston in West Ashley in January 2024. During that time, I followed the required process: an initial appointment, an epidural, and a post-epidural appointment. I made sure to attend the post-epidural appointment, despite feeling great, in case I needed to see Dr. Gardner again in the future. Unfortunately, in July, my back issues returned. I received a letter stating that Dr. Gardner had moved to the Carolina Pain Institute in Ladson. I immediately contacted the new office, only to be told that the office manager, who is the sole person responsible for transferring patients from the old system to the new one, was out for the week. I was advised to wait for her return. I followed up after a week, only to be told that I needed to "wait my turn." It has now been three weeks, and I have yet to receive a callback. I am in extreme pain and am beyond frustrated with the lack of urgency and care from Carolina Pain Institute. I was a loyal patient of Dr. Gardner, willing to drive to Ladson to continue under his care, but it seems that the Carolina Pain Institute is not interested in accommodating his previous patients. This level of unresponsiveness and lack of concern for a patient's well-being is unacceptable. I urge Carolina Pain Institute to address this issue immediately, as this experience has been nothing short of disappointing and frustrating. 10/23/24: 2 months have gone by and I still have not heard from this office. I have moved on but at this point as a new patient or existing, I would seriously consider taking your business elsewhere. I do feel justified because all of the reviews since I've written in have also been negative. Glad I didn't trek out to Ladson for this when there are many more great doctors in Charleston.”
