“Receptionists and nurse were very kind and listened, and were accommodating of me and my service dog. However the doctor I spoke to was very dismissive. While my father was in the room he said that they were unable to treat my specific pain and would refer me to Emory. However when my father left the room to take my service dog to the bathroom the doctor suddenly changed his mind and told me I needed to see a psychiatrist. I've dealt with chronic pain and disability for most of my life, and doctors dismissing me is unfortunately nothing new to me. I found the act of only changing his tune when my father left the room with my service dog particularly insulting, as if he was waiting for there to be nobody to stick up for me. I'm sure if you're older this is the place for you, but anyone under the age of 40 should probably avoid.”
