Patient Testimonials

My husband is/was a patient here. The lady who answers the phone is rude. Every time my husband calls, she is not nice. Today there was a misunderstanding about his two important appointments being canceled. He called a few times to get understanding as to why his appointments were canceled. Sometimes it takes a minute for my husband to comprehend things, so he kept calling for clarification. Regardless of his situation, as a professional, she needed to act professional. The last conversation was her hanging up in his face. Dr. Samuelson seems like a good doctor. Dr. Samuelson, you should really see who is working for you because patients should not be treated this way.

Wow!!! I was shocked to see some patients reviews of low score. Sorry for your experience. My husband and I differ from negative comments. We did not find Dr Samuelson Or receptionist in Kerrville location Rude, incompetent, arrogant, quite opposite . Receptionist was bubbly, friendly. Dr.Samuelson was very friendly, knowledgeable and we did not experience a rush out the office. He answered all our questions and treatment plans. I learned so much. Such a nice environment.

Like an elephant, I never forget. Migrating my review to their new profile. "Was cut off my pain medication without any kind of taper which is dangerous and not in line with updated CDC guidance as I understand it. This resulted in immeasurable stress in my life as I was left with little options to mitigate my pain. Thankfully, I found some reprieve in conservative use of Kratom. Doc Samuelson based on my experience is a rigid by the book doctor (which may be good for some folks) and, despite Kratom being an effective alternative in pain management, told me to quit due to my BP being elevated, after apparently the metabolites coming up in my UA. I was not at all aware that this was the case that I was being tested for it but rather assumed he was making an inference. I judged that the BP risk was less than the risks of unmanaged back pain and continued taking Kratom. He did not make it clear that my continued use of the next month would be criteria for him to deem me no longer a candidate for pain meds months and numerous tests later. Why was I still being tested if I was only going to be denied on what was supposed to be the last one? Note that as soon as it was made CLEAR that stopping Kratom was a condition for me to get back on my meds, I complied immediately! Unfortunately, it seems is the PA and doc Samuelson did not seem to be on the same page with that. One significant redeeming aspect of this experience was the PAs prescription of duloxetine, an anti-depressant with neuropathic pain relief qualities which has helped me get through this difficult time. In my opinion of the bigger picture, the fault lays in corrupt bureaucratic organizations and that make it difficult for doctors to treat their patients. It's systemic and I understand that many doctors have their hands tied and face legal risks from regulatory agencies. Encourage those in similar boat to look into orgs like Don't Punish Pain for support and so we may work together to push for change. No hard feelings with this clinic. Just hope they work on improving their communication and transparency with their future patients so expectations are clear. Few additional bullets from the experience - Took multiple attempts to change my pharmacy after my insurance coverage changed. They ended up sending to the wrong pharmacy after two attempts. - Online appointment system has available dates but it doesn't match the clinics actual availability. - PA seems to always be in a hurry to get off the phone. Was asking about possibly getting a letter of medical necessity for a FSA claim for a new mattress since my old one seemed to be exacerbating my pain but was promptly told they don't do that. My former PT clinic was able to do that so you're telling me you can't or just can't be bothered to write a little note that's relevant to pain mgmt? Edit: Downgraded to one star. It seems the clinic is now unresponsive in my request to receive paper script for continuity of care involving SNRI medication known for it's profound withdrawal effects and even suicides. I've left voicemails and messaged via the portal. The only explanation I can figure is the doc and team have decided to discontinue service after leaving my unfavorable review. If that be so, fine but yall took a Hippocratic oath to "do not harm" yet have been unresponsive hindering my efforts to refill this prescription which has affected my mental health. That is unacceptable. Moreover, the clinic had overcharged me for something Tricare had paid for so I have a balance due. I want my prescription and my balance so I can be on my way to finding another clinic to manage my pain. Thanks! Edit: No response to either voicemails or portal messages. Saw my doc on the 27th for continuity of care (first available in the end of November) and got a refill of my anti-depressant pain medication. Unfortunately, the holiday schedule has proven unaccomodating I been out of the medication for 3 days waiting for the pharmacies to open on base. This would have never happened had Alavie communicated with me."

I have been a patient coming here for 1 1/2 years or more. The entire staff is kind and considerate, and they take time to make sure I understand any procedures given, and are always professional. Dr. Samuelson is a pretty neat guy, and takes time to explain treatments and; understanding I'm trying to relieve my pain the easiest way possible, is great at recommending a treatment that fits along with that idea. I have gotten migraine therapy injections, and back injections there as well. I am happy having a doctor who understands me, and a staff that makes coming here an enjoyable experience. Thank you for all you do!!
