Patient Testimonials

I had left a review previously that was very positive. I am now in the process of leaving this horrible practice. The office staff and nurses are horrible. Never pick up the phone. Needed a peer to peer for a medicine, still haven't received it. I would think (and I had thought) that a pain mgmt Dr /office would be caring. Boy was I wrong! This office and the head of the unit should be ashamed of themselves. They've had me in tears due to their lack of caring.

I was a patient at the New Jersy Pain Institute since my car accident in 2012. During that time I was seen about once a month. Dr. Sakr was ALWAYS kind and compassionate. He was willing to work with me using physical therapy, spinal injections (13 in 5 years) and caring to avoid the ultimately necessary spinal surgery. Complicating my spinal injury was my active rheumatoid arthritis. With great care we were constantly adjusting my medications using the lowest dosage needed for my pain level at that time. He was so kind, took as much time as you needed, spoke directly to you using understandable terms ( and re-explaining words I didn't understand). Then Governor Christie got involved trying to stem the tide of opiate addiction. Dr Sakr left but no one told me - until I specifically asked for an appointment with Dr. Sakr after 3 months with another doctor. When those 3 appointments were scheduled I was only told Dr Sakr was 'away'. When I pushed for an appointment with him they quietly admitted he had left the Pain Institute. Everyone claimed they had no other info regarding his whereabouts or even if he was still practicing! Wonderful thing about the Internet is I located his current practice within 10 minutes. So what about Christie? He has deemed that any government supported facility (the Pain Institute is affiliated with RWJUH) must reduce or eliminate the amount of opiates prescribed. I took too many and they couldn't afford my "opiate level". I was given 2 one month scripts and unceremoniously 'KICKED OUT' of NJ Pain Institute Do you have any idea how hard it is to find another pain management provider after you have been KICKED OUT of another program? Fortunately I found Dr Sakr's new practice and we had a good report. Without Dr Sakr the NJ Pain Institute became rigid, secretive and uncaring - even the nurses and receptionists. This is why I have lowered my rating of 5 stars in 2013 to 3 stars in 2018.

They never pick up their phone. My mother is in pain and I cant get in contact with anyone no matter what number i press on the automated phone system. I called 6 times in 2 days. Left my number when prompted. Waited on the phone for 2 hours today and still no response. My mother is suffering and I cant get anyone to return a call. Previously, when someone from that office called me back they provided a number that did not work when I called it back, said it was a rutgers number that was no longer in service. That office is packed with people, How can no one be able to pick up?
