Patient Testimonials

I've been a patient for almost 6 months and every experience with the staff has been pleasant, and most importantly with Toccara, my APRN. I can walk, stand, sit, and lay for longer periods of time and sometimes with no pain at all. She understood my pain and is helping it, unlike this other clinic in West Haven (no names) that treated me like a drug addict in my intake interview, though I was never on pain meds before in my life. I can now prolong my surgery as I desperately needed to. I'm grateful.

I am a health care provider and have been one for 2 decades. Unfortunately, I have DJD in my lower back, worsened from a fall. I was on gabapentin and flexeril, that's it, and I needed a provider to fill my scripts. I Like the NPs, they respected my request as I didn't want/nor can I take any opioids chronically. The "owner", a masoginistic jerk, "Ben", was dictating how often I needed to come back. They make you follow up at frequent intervals, and since my regimen is "stable", I graduated to a 2 Month follow up. There was an issue with my script because the refill allowance was "0.87 refillsz". I thought it was an error and the APRN approved a 2 month supply. I called "Ben" asking if my rx could be changed, he said "no you have to be seen since it's a controlled." I said, "OK BEN! Check the quantity that was approved because 2 months was APPROVED!" He refused to let me speak to the provider, moreover, you can't message them directly in the portal. This guys is such an ass hat-very misinformed about what "controlled meds" are. Flexeril is not controlled, in CT, gabapentin is NOT controlled. He is arguing because it's prescription, "it's controlled". Prescription means it is dispensed by a provider and dosage and monitoring is managed by the provider. To date, gabapentin is not assigned a schedule (check the CT DPH Consumer report from September 2020, ITS NOT CONTROLLED!! BEN!" Moreover, when you do intake, HE looks at your previous records and decides if you would be treated. He's not a MA, LPN, RN, MD, PA or APRN. I don't know where he thinks he is qualified to render care. An owner doesn't extend you licensure. He looks at your insurance to see if it's cash cow-seeing how many unnecessary visits he can squeeze. Also look at the state attorney lawsuit from 2022. He was named in a fraudulent insurance scheme to overbilled patients' insurance for UNNECESSARY visits-the state mandated he pay $1 million dollars back for fraudulent billing. He holds "your prescriptions hostage" until you make another appointment. The chewing tobacco habit is disgusting too, likely an OSHA violation. There are other pain centers out there, I will say the NPs were helpful. Patient beware!

The male receptionist is plane out rude and disrespectful. The provider Sandra Charles don't listen to the patient. She gives stuff that affects someone's mental health. I honestly believe she's racist. I will be making a report to the state of Connecticut. I refuse to return to that practice. Trust me on this if I didn't have to press a star I wouldn't have. If you deal with chronic pain and have mental health issues stay far away from this pain center.

Each time I call, receptionist are rude and don't even answer with a greeting. Yall gotta remember you are the pint point person for patients, the company, etc. that goes for everyone who walks in that place too. Each time I speak to either the girl or the boy, they both throw me off and I haven't even gotten in to book an appointment. Smh I hope to see different energy in person. Yall hiring just anyone fr no value or compassion when talking to patients. And yall represent all those who suffer from chronic pain?? Clearly if we getting referred to this business, we have that bit of joy and excitement. You guys are just killing all energy and hopes that we're gonna actually support and REAL help from these physicians.
